Weekly limits: the +50% promotion ended, +25% is permanent

Fact The promotion that raised Claude Code weekly limits by 50% ran May 13 through September 13, 2026. Starting September 14, 2026, Claude Code weekly limits are 25% higher than they were before the promotion for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. Five-hour session limits were not part of the promotion.

Unknown The +25% applies to a weekly baseline that Anthropic does not publish as a number, so TraceCheck does not convert it into a message count.

Reset mechanics

Five-hour sessions are one limit

  1. Fact The session-based usage limit resets every five hours.
  2. Fact A weekly usage limit applies across all models and resets at a fixed time assigned to the account. That day and time stay the same regardless of when you start using Claude or when the subscription began.
  3. Fact Settings > Usage shows five-hour session progress, weekly progress, and the next weekly reset.
  4. Unknown TraceCheck does not invent one UTC weekly reset for every account. A session reset is not proof that the weekly allowance has reset.

What happens when you hit the limit?

Fact Optional usage credits can continue Claude Code at standard API rates after included subscription usage is exhausted.

Fact Extra usage applies to both Claude conversations and Claude Code. Combined usage counts toward the same limits. Extra usage does not change the five-hour reset timing.

Claude Console API access is another, separately metered path. API account limits and spend apply independently of the subscription. See Anthropic's subscription and API billing explanation.

Model-specific differences

Fact Max 5x is five times Pro session usage. Max 20x is twenty times Pro session usage. Weekly limits still apply on both Max tiers.

Unknown Anthropic does not publish one fixed current-model Claude Code prompt count. Help Center average-user ranges currently appear under Usage Limits for Older Models (including Sonnet 4 / Opus 4 hours) and are not treated as current-model quotas.

Not directly comparable Session multipliers, weekly existence, and older-model average-user estimates are different units. They cannot be converted into one universal message score.

What is not disclosed

Unknown Anthropic does not publish one fixed current-model Claude Code prompt count or one universal weekly message number. Help Center average-user ranges currently sit under Usage Limits for Older Models and are not treated as current-model quotas.

Derived A Max upgrade can address a recurring session-capacity constraint. It does not establish unlimited use, a matching weekly multiplier, or a fixed number of additional prompts. Identify which limit interrupted your work before treating a larger session allowance as the answer.
